Hair Replacement Systems - What's Gonna Work Best For You?
Hair systems have been around for a looong time. For hundreds of years they were simply known as wigs but they're now referred to as hair systems. They offer a last resort to anyone, male or female, who has had no luck with hairloss treatments and is still suffering from hairloss. Or sometimes they've suffered an injury or skin condition which they simply want to cover with a hair system or wig. Hair pieces and wigs and hair systems are the exact same thing - just so there's no confusion.
Hair replacement systems have several advantages and some disadvantages also. The main advantage is that a hair system offers an almost instant fix for your hairloss worries. You get measured, the system is ordered and within a few weeks BAM you have your hair back. The major disadvantage is obviously this is not your own hair and that the system could come loose and leave you exposed (this rarely happens though).
We're going to look at the different types of hair systems that you can use if that's your choice.
Hair Weaves
This is where artificial or human hair is bonded to your own existing hair. This can be done in stages to add thickness to your hair overall. The big problem with hair weaves is that adding it can simply weaken your own hair further and cause more hair loss in the long term.
Hair Pieces/Wig/Systems
Like we already said these are now called hair systems and have come a long, long way from the fake looking hair pieces you've all come to know and hate. With a hair system or hair piece like this human or synthetic hair is bonded to a base. The base can be light, medium or heavy grade depending on the type of system you're buying. The hair attached to the base is colored and style to match your own hair
One thing to really be aware of when buying a hair system is that you're going to need two of them. Why? Because from time to time they need to be cleaned and repaired so when one of your systems is being cleaned you'll need another one to wear each day.
Hair systems are attached in different ways. They can be glued, stitched or taped onto your scalp. Some of the older types use a clip which is attached to your existing hair. The method used for attaching your hair system will vary from one supplier to the next.
Good hair systems aren't cheap and you'll need to budget for at least several hundred to a few thousand dollars for a high quality, realistic looking hair system. Don't cheap it when you're buying a hair system - you will regret it. Seriously.
Hair Integration
This involves a very light base (often called a membrane) being attached to your scalp first. The membrane is almost invisible to the naked eye. Over time hair is gradually added to the membrane so it appears that your hair is growing back naturally. The results of this hair system are pretty amazing when you see them first - it actually does look like real hair growing back.
You'll still need to purchase two of the hair integration type systems regardless so do prepare yourself for that extra cash expense if you consider taking this route to hair replacement.
