Finding the Best Hairloss Treatment For You
There are literally hundreds of hairloss treatments available in stores and online today. Never before in history has there been more "cures" available for hairloss - all types of hairloss. It's no longer a question of searching for a remedy or treatment for your hair problem. No. The problem is choosing the right one for you and making sure that it's suitable for the type of hairloss you're experiencing.
All too often people see the latest hairloss treatment featured on some news show and rush straight out to buy it. This isn't the way to go. First you need to answer two questions:
1. What type of hairloss do I have?
2. What types of treatments are available for that type of hairloss?
Treating hairloss type A with a product for hairloss type B will be a waste of time. That's speaking in general terms but it's a fact. You need to properly diagnose the type of hairloss you have and this is best done by a family doctor or even better a trichologist.
So what are the best treatments for hairloss?
Male Pattern Baldness is the the most common type (affecting over 85% of men) so we'll look at those treatments first. The best time to treat MPB is as soon as it appears; sometimes this can occur in the late teen years or early 20's. If you treat MPB in the early stages, when the hair is just starting to recede from the temples, then you stand a good chance of halting it or severely slowing it down for several years; sometimes permanently.
The most common treatments for MPB are Rogaine (Minoxidil) and Propecia (Finasteride) or also Avodart (Propecia V2.0). The Propecia/Avodart reduces the level of DHT in the scalp whilst the Rogaine assists the hair regrowth process. Another option that can be investigated for late stage MPB is hair transplant surgery; this has come a long, long way from the original hair transplants. It could really be worth checking out.
Hairloss is also a major issue for some women and there are several treatments available. Most women won't even talk about their hairloss and do their very best to keep it a secret. This doesn't mean, however, that women have no options in terms of hairloss treatments. The biggest problem for women is figuring out which type of hairloss they have. Women can suffer from hormone related hairloss problems, stress related hairloss, various forms of alopecia including areata and sometimes even male pattern baldness.
Once correctly diagnosed the most common forms of treatment for female hairloss are Rogaine for Women, steroid injections, HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) and possibly oral spironolactone or other oral medications. Again the treatment will depend on the type of hairloss being experienced and will need to be correctly diagnosed by a doctor or trichologist.
